It's been a while, but we have a new podcast

It's been a while but we dont forget the basics.  Like no time was lost, we catch up, we talk about the new reality tv show Comic Book Men and Orlando Comic Con where Creature Entertainment will have a booth.  Speaking of Creature, i was able to get to see their latest short TS 101, which was a lot of fun to watch and it definitely made me want to see more, so i cant wait for the comic to come out.  Other than that, just our usual amount of nonsense in between.

What's my calendar looking like?

This is what my desk looks like, if you were my boss and ever wondered about what I do with my time you’d fire me on the spot after seeing this.  But you shouldn’t be so hasty, most of the time I do these when I’m on the phone.  Once I recognize a phone call is going to be longer than 2 min I usually will start looking online at random things, comics mostly as you can see, find something that appeals and start doodling.  I used to just doodle on my notepad to keep busy, I don’t know why but I have to be doing something or else it feels weird.  Somehow the pen always ended up in my hand and I’d be drawing clouds and stuff.  Now at least I can control it and make it look nice.  I’ve even started doing this at home too in between reading and thinking of something to write.  I’m by no means an artist, I wish I could come up with original things and draw them, no, I can copy other’s work well enough to pass.  This week especially I wish I was someone who could turn an image into a drawing.  I had a dream where there was this purple monster with two hands on each forearm and two feet on each leg, well it kinda started at the knee, anyway, a lot easier to draw that than explain it.  For the longest time I have fancied the idea of taking drawing classes, or painting, or something in that area but haven’t yet.  Why haven’t I?  I get easily distracted with other ideas, the only things I ever followed through were writing and English classes.  But obviously, I plan on doing something with those, art, not so much, it’s fun and for myself mostly.  Though, I have joked about starting a screen printing t-shirt design company.  Just ideas I have. I should though, my ego says I’m wasting my “talent” wasting all this time thinking about doing something about it.  It’s right.

Brad storms in through the door, purposely avoiding Gia’s stare as she sits patiently, he knows he is late on account of the unplanned 2 extra beers that he’s aware she already knows about.
“So I know you were looking forward to watching Richardson tonight babe” he says as he busies himself changing out of his work clothes, “but I heard Bardner is in town for a few nights at the Personification and I was thinking” but he’s stopped dead in his tracks by her look.
“Oh no you don’t!  You already vetoed Josephine and now you have the gall to show up late AND try and tell me you don’t want to see Richardson!”  almost raising her voice at the end of the sentence,  “and Bardner of all people.  No.  He isn’t always reliable, I’ve read reviews of his last shows and I still remember the show we went to.  I just can’t trust his work”.
“The turtle dick? Are we still on that?”
“You can’t unsee that Brad, you can’t”
“Can you blame Bardner completely on that?  I mean his editor needs to some of the blame too.”
Almost frustrated she replies “We should be thanking the editor, god knows what he didn’t switch to if an erect turtle was his best choice. God!” she slaps her hands on her legs.  “Richardson can almost give you a synopsis, he’s so in control.”
               “Boring is what I’m hearing.”
“No, he’s sensitive and obviously cares about his career choices.  Bardner is a dime a dozen, how many of the likes of him come and gone.  Big whoop, so you had one good projection once, maybe twice, just saying.”
Brad finishes changing clothes and accepts his fate “alright I won’t say anything else, but I just wish he would do an action projection or something once in a while” he reaches for her hand and helps her up.
“By the way, I hear he’s been trying for a sequel.”
“Oh great, fingers crossed we get lucky tonight” he says sarcastically as she rolls her eyes at him.
They leave their apartment and make their way to the theatre, it’s a short walk before they see the marquee and Richardson’s name in red letters against a white background of fluorescent lights.  They buy their tickets and make it to their seats just as the lights are dim.
A light turns on spotlighting a chaise lounge chair at the center of the stage, there is some equipment that like something used to monitor a patient at a medical facility.  A spotlight turns on aimed at the side of the stage, the audience claps as Richardson walks out.
He walks to the center of the stage “Thank you all for choosing me for your entertainment tonight.  As always I promise to give you the best I can and not just whatever comes to mind.  I’d also like to thank my editor tonight whose job is more important than mine I think, having to rifle through everything going on in my head and still presenting an enjoyable projection”.  He pauses while the audience applauds taking the opportunity to take a pill and wash it down with some water.
Richardson takes a seat and in unknown person comes from the shadows to assist him in attaching monitoring wires to his forehead while the editor begins to turn on monitors behind Richardson.
A giant white screen begins to descend from the ceiling and a projector turns on as Richardson continues his intro “For tonight’s viewing I have been preparing by thinking about college and a girl I fell in love with around my sophomore year.  I’d like to call tonight’s dream ‘A mistake in love’” he pauses to yawn, “please enjoy” and reclines on the chair.
There are 10 or so images floating around on the screen, the view begins to peruse through them until finally choosing one that has the name of a college.  The screen enlarges to a young, wide eyed Richardson walking through the college gates, the audience giggles to see him.  On the stage the editor is looking through a few more scenes to project.  Brad and Gia hold hands as they laugh at a scene where Richardson trips and falls when he is distracted by a girl walking by.  The audience settles in and the show continues.

Vacation

So i took an unexpected vacation and enjoyed it a little too much cause i disconnected myself from a lot of things.  Didn't watch a lot of tv, but i did find myself watching Transformer 3 as i tried to kill 2 hours waiting.  Let me save you the trouble of watching it.  Spoiler Alert!! The Transformers win, none of the good guys die, the chick who replaced Megan Fox really made no difference and i suggest you can go the rest of your life not wasting that amount of time on that movie.  Listened to a lot of radio, i was out in LA so KROQ was the station i was tuned into.  I hadn't realized just how much Miami has made me miss out, this place has no good radio stations what so ever.  So that was fun, if you get the chance check out Gotye - Somebody I Used To Know, great song getting a lot of airplay out in LA.  As for the internet, if i couldn't connect to it with my phone i was pretty much not doing it.  Other than that, since it was unexpected there was no podcast but there will be one this week. So on with the show.

Just brainstorming a movie for fun.

I've been wanting to do this with Juan for a while, to see his thinking process when he approaches a script or idea.  It was interesting to see how he feels developing the atmosphere, culture and social goings on is the first thing he goes for.  While i on the other hand and thinking characters and situations and building the world around them.  My thinking is that a story, well written can take place in just about any time and medium, so that the world is built around them, but I can see how his brainstorming technique kinda works cause as we talked i got ideas for characters.  It was interesting to hear how deep he goes into it, i imagine it's the D&D Dungeon Master in him trying to make a real world so that his character development is much easier because he has a place for them to walk around and have an adventure.  Even listening to it again i get more ideas, very cool stuff going on there.

She tried to stop crying but her tears only lubricated the gears.  The machine was in full motion.  Destination?  Unknown.  When did this conductor get behind the wheel and where did the man she was talking to go? she thought.  She never saw the change behind the veil of tears.  Now there she was, on a bumpy ride unsure of when it would stop, if ever.  She resigned to the idea that the machine would stop at it's desired destination and that she had no say in the matter.  She eventually stopped crying, sat down, got a drink and started to look out the window.  The bumps had all but stopped, the conductor even sat down with her and they talked.  He couldn't promise her anything but he would try to make the rest of the ride smoother.  She closed her eyes for a minute she thought, but she woke at the jerk of the machine coming to a halt.  The conductor came back, a new one, he looked a little like the last one but somehow just a little different.  She didn't know how but she thought they could be same person, except the demeanor of this new one seemed friendlier.
She explained, "I don't know where to go from here".
"Well you can't stay here.  Besides, do you really want to go where this machine is going?  It's going to unknown places, it's best if you just start walking and take it one day at a time from here."
"But i'm scared".
"I know.  But you've been here before, you don't need someone else deciding where you're going anymore".
With that she grabbed her bags and got off at the station.  The posted signs showed her the directions to places she knew.  Out of curiosity she also saw where the machine was headed and was glad she got off where she did.  She began to walk back to her life.

Hey Juan, what is wrong with Miami customer service? (and stuff)

I should really get over the fact that most people's attitude in Miami is shitty, well, when it comes to customer service.  I've been out here 3 years now, you'd think i would shut up about it.  Maybe i will someday, but until then allow me to express myself in the hopes that people will change.  A smile here, an apology there, some sort of sign that they care, that's all i'm asking for.

Enjoy.
